Virgin Birth of Jesus

Salvation

As some of you know I participate in STOA a homeschool, Christian speech and debate club. One of my favorite parts of speech is the Apologetics section– there was a question they asked– why is the virgin birth of Jesus important? How does this affect the Christian faith?

This is a perfect topic to consider around Christmas when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. As I thought about this subject more deeply, the little parts of Christmas make such a major difference in the validity of the Christian faith.

To know the impact of  the virgin birth we need to look at what would happen if it was eliminated.

First, if we say that Mary was not a virgin, then the Bible lied to us. If scripture is lying to us here, how can we believe any other part of it?

Second, if Jesus was born of man, meaning Mary did not conceive Him through the Holy Spirit, then Jesus us not God. How can Jesus be born fully God, if he was conceived just like every one of us? Also if Jesus isn’t God, then how can He be perfect? What right does He have to tell us how to live our lives, let alone “save” us from eternal separation from God? He had to be sinless, which means He had to be God.

Lastly, our salvation comes through Grace, it cannot be done by our human will, or strength. Only by God alone can we be saved– if Jesus was not born of a virgin, then He was not God, and therefore could not be God’s grace to us.

To wrap this all up. If we eliminate the virgin birth of Jesus we are in jeopardy of loosing the truth and inerrancy of scripture, the fact that Jesus is God and that we are saved through Him. So what is the importance of the virgin birth of Jesus? It is important because our salvation rests upon the fact that Jesus is God, therefore perfect and able to save us from our sins.

It is important to remember in this day and age that even the so-called “little things” of the Bible are vital to the validity of the Christian faith. You can never compromise on the truth of God’s word in small areas, otherwise the entirety of the Bible is untrue.

There are many false doctrines within the church these days and we must stand firm on what the Bible says is true and the commandments which we are to obey. Don’t let Satan deceive you subtly– Stay alert – Stay focused on Jesus and live for Him!

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” - Matthew 1:23

Lauren Davies

My name is Lauren Norlene Davies, I am 18 years old and I live with my parents and younger brother. I am constantly reminded how short life is and how important it is to live for the Lord and do all things for His glory and honor!

I was saved when I was young and since then, I have continued to grow in my relationship with the Lord. God has given me the passion to disciple the younger girls He places in my life.

Why am I writing newsletters and blog posts? A few years ago, God placed on my heart the importance of impacting and helping those around me. If I can make a difference in someone’s life by writing or providing impactful and meaningful stories, then I am delighted and honored to do so. God is the most important person to talk, think and write about, so that is the reason I love to share about Him. I hope that through these newsletters you learn the same thing. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, a take them off of ourselves.

Music has also been a very big part of my life. I began playing the violin in 2009 and started playing the piano a few years later. Since 2020, I have taught the violin and I love to be able to play music for the Lord and glorify Him through music!

I also love to cook, bake, crochet, read books, watch movies, organize and spend time with friends. I am an extrovert, leader and love to work with people!

This fall I am teaching violin, helping with my grandparents' ministry, (www.penielranch.org), and serving in my church, Emmanuel Baptist Church of Snohomish.

My prayer is that you will be encouraged in your faith by this blog! All glory be to God!
